Chai
. page 7—THE NEWS-April 1979
The past couple of months
have heen busy ones for the
Chai tjroup. The art class did
some clay modeling and
through the help of Garland
Henderson the group was
shown how to glaze them.
At one of the recent afternoon
meetings the group was enter
tained with a slide presentation
of the “Restoration of Fourth
Ward” by Kimm Jolly, executive
director of the Berryhill Preser
vation.
Else Bergen, coordinator of
the Chai group, recently
appeared on Channel 36 in a
panel discussion on aging. She
was interviewed by Art Nor
man, with emphasis on Chai’s
activities. Several pictures done
by the art class were exhibited.
A special thank you is’extend-
ed to Beverly Howard who has
been instrumental in securing
the interesting programs each
week.

In the words of Isaac

the tongue of martyrs and
saints, of dreamers and
cabalists—rich in humor and in

never forget, for Yiddish is the
wise and humble language of us
all; the idiom of a hopeful
humanity. ”
