With Our Youth Chai BBC With a slumber party on January 4th, Chai had loads of fun, “munched out”, had a chapter rap session, and made plans for the future. On Sunday, January 6th, Chai initiated their beau, David Portnoy. At 7:30 a.m. David was surprised to find many Chai girls waking him up and mak ing him wear a ridiculous tutu, pink and yellow ribbons in his curls, and hideous makeup. Chai kidnapped David for the afternoon. After a lively breakfast at Sambo’s, David gave Chai a soccer lesson, and everyone played a fun game of soccer. It was a fun day for the girls, but an einbarrassing (me for David. On January 12th Chai BBG presented a get-together and dis cussion entitled “Let’s Bridge the Generation Gap”. The dis cussion was led by Wilma Asrael. This program was held at Pam Gorelick’s home for both BBW chapters of Charlotte and their sister chapter, Chaverim. 'nirough this program Chai hopes to strengthen the BBG- BBW relationship. On Friday, January 11th at Debbie Tager’s house, Chai and Chaverim held an oneg shab bat. Chai has planned a creative service which they will present at Temple Israel on a Friday night very soon. Chai will be visiting the Clemmons Home for Uie Aged and is also organiz ing a program concerning anti semitism in the United ^tes, which is scheduled for March. Couples Club Ushers In ^80 Although 1980 is well on its way, twenty-two members of the Temple Israel Couples Club are still reminiscing about their re cent holiday trip to the Beach. The group stayed at the Howard Johnson Motor Lodge in luxurious ocean front rooms. All rooms were together and no other guests were on the twelfth floor so the accommodations were really private. The Couples Club even had their own hospitality r(X)m for cards, games and socializing. ^ New Year’s Eve a cocktail party took place in the hospitali ty room prior to a festive even ing meal. Following dinner, the hotel hosted a super party in the lounge. Lavish decorations and party favors enhanced the festive mood. A live band and entertainers were featured into the early hours of the morning. Also included was a 2 a.m. buffet breakfast which topped off a really delightful celebra tion. It was the* finishing touch to a truly memorable evening. Those couples who attended were more than pleased with the arrangements. Co-chairmen lillian and Irving Bienstock are to be complimented for the time and effort they expended. The' outing was an unquestioned success and everyone there ex pressed decided interest in a simi]ar affair next year. So positive was the reaction that Avery Waldman has volunteered his services as Chairman of the Couples Qub 1981 celebration. We can’t wait! Ort Ort will be hosting an art auc tion to be held at Rain tree Coun try Club on March 8th at 8 p.m. Everyone is invited to enjoy an evening combining a little culture with a dab of art educa tion.
