Over 100 people par ticipated in a real exciting season. There were some 15 new players joining for the summer. After a grueling 10 game season played in the scorching sun and on a swampy rain-soaked field the standings were being led by the team captained by Jerry Fnicht. Closed behind were teams captained by Allyn Straus, Dick Zelickson and Morris Spil. On their heels were the teams of Ken Levy and Bob Penchina. After some well played games Jerry Frucht’s team came back to win the JCC championship by beating underdog Ken Levy’s team 3-1 and 9-6 in must win games. This was one of the best playoffs in recent years and capped off an excellent season. The captains awarded the following awards at the annual breakfast; Most Improved - Shelly Krinsky MV Over 300 - Bob Penchina Commissioners Award - Allyn Straus Best Scorekeeper - Shelly Krinsky Last to Pay - Ron Kaplan MVP-Allyn Straus MVP - Playoffs - Ric Coffin MV No-Show - Larry Horowitz Best New Player - Karl Isenberg Best Levine - Sol Levine Quiz:(Answer next month) Who was the JCC outstanding player in 1970?
