PyelMyENEWS-April, 1982 ON PASSOVER BVB ...THE SEDER.... aiiflHs cvp The Seder You are now ready for the Seder. Begin the Seder after dark. During the Seder we recline to the left at certain points to show our freedom. Kadesh Vfp Kiddush The Seder service begins by reciting Kiddush over a cup of wine or grape juice. This is the first of the four cups of wine which we drink, reclining at the Seder. Ur’chatz Washing the hands After Kiddush, we wash our hands the way we usually do before a meal, but without reciting a blessing. Karpas Dip a small piece of potato, onion, or similar vegetable in salt water and before eating it say the proper blessing (see Haggadah). Yachatz >(n» “Break Matzah” Break the middle Matzah, and put away the larger half as the Aphikomen (to be eaten at the end of the meal). Put back the smaller part between the two other Matzoth. Maggid*T'>»3 Ask Four Questions Fill up the second cup of wine or grape juice. We begin to read the Haggadah. Now it’s time for your special part in the Seder when you ask the Four Questions, (listen carefully to the answer!) Rachatzdh Wash the Hands After drinking the second cup of wine reclining, or grape juice wash your hands for the meal. This time recite the customary blessing. Motzi Matzah Eat the Matzah Next, take hold of the three Matzahs, and say the blessing “Harriotzi.” Then let the bottom Matzah drop back onto the plate, and say the blessing “Al achilas Matzah" (See Haggadah) Break a piece from ech and e^t them together, reclining.
