Early Bird Special
The JCC ran a swift moving raft trip down the Nantahala River June 12. Fifteen people
maneuvered rafts on the warm sunny day trip which kept them waterborn for nearly three
hours. Warming up at lunch in the outdoor center restaurant, they then made their way back
to Charlotte by nightfall. Another trip has been organized for August 7 to the French Broad
River near Asheville.

More Information Forthcoming
The Chai Group finished
its “Man, Animals and
Nature” class in late June
bringing to a close another of
Judy Tager’s fine CPCC
courses. July 11 featured a
belated grand finale to that
course with a morning jaunt
to Discovery Place.
Moving into the CPCC
summer quarter, Chai began
a cultural arts class, again
with Judy Tager. A broad
spectrum of arts is explored
through music, visual arts
and dance. The group plans
to take some other day ex
cursions during the summer.
Chai Raffle
This year’s Chai Raffle
will be held on September 5.
Each year, Chai Group, as
partners with the JCC,
donates the prizes for the
raffle and this year Chai
Group member, Sylvia
Sadoff, has created a
beautiful heirloom afghan.
In addition to the afghan,
Lina Levine has created a
framed paper and fabric col
lage. Both these iterfs are of
fered as prizes in the raffle
and the funds raised are used
to help Chai Group meet
their programming needs.
There will be a letter for
thcoming explaining the cost
of the tickets, which will also
be enclosed. We at the
Center join Chai Group in
asking you to please help all
of us in our efforts by
registering for the raffle.
