Page 6-THE NEWS-April, 1984 Our Federation At Work Splash Into Spring — Women’s Division — By Louise Bernstein Spring arrived early this year as the Women’s Division of the Charlotte Jewish Federation feted its $250 minimum donors with a gala luncheon on Sunday, February 19. “Splash into Spring" was held in the exotic surround* ings of the indoor swimming pool at the home of Marilyn and Harry Swimmer. Louise Bernstein chaired the event. Wine on the terrace was followed by a picnic-basket lunch around the pool where donors and their guests were greeted by Bobbi Bernstein who, along with Sara Schreib- man, co-chaired this year’s successful campaign. Emily Zimmern, reservations co- chairperson, introduced the speaker. Dr. Kitty Cohen, of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C. In her speech, Dr. Cohen profiled the growth of the Israeli industrial community and described the variety and productivity that character izes Israel’s industry today. From electronics to textiles. from chemicals to fashions. Dr. Cohen painted a vivid pic ture of an economy forging ahead to take its place among the developing countries of the world. The shrill blast of a life guard’s whistle heralded the final portion of the program • a colorful and glamorous show of swimwear by Gottex of Israel, presented by Coplon’s at SouthPark. Coplon’s owner, Henry Greenberg introduced a collection of dazzling Gottex creations ranging from bathing suits in lush jungle prints with matching dia phanous cover-ups to crisp navy and white bikinis and maillots paired with nautical jackets sporting the tradi tional sailor collar and tie. As the show ended, it was “every one into the pool!” - including host Harry Swimmer, who had been the first model. “Splash into Spring’ ended with a splash! really Gottex Fashion Show: Renee Gorelick watches a model.
