Ig Fundraiser Slated The JCC will be holding a “Silent Auction” as its major fundreiiser of the year at the Marriott Hotel (near 1-77) on Saturday, October 20. Over 50 items be auctioned in cluding a week’s vacation at a luxurious condominium, an ultralight airplane, appliances, dinners at local restaurants and much more. Tickets, sale to begin this month, will serve as the price of admission for a complete dinner and dancing preceding the auction itself. The various items to be auctioned-off will be displayed throughout the evening, enabl ing individuals to make open ing bids from the time they ar rive at the Marriott. Further details will be available in the next issue of the Jewish News. Arts Day Thanks to volunteers and pjiid staff alike, children who participated in the Jewish Community Center’s Arts Day had a wonderful after noon. Children had the oppor tunity to paint murals, to build wooden structures, to make plaster casts and to tie- dye t-shirts. At the end of the afternoon, a laundry line of drying, multi-colored t-shirts hung across the Art Day work-space. The hot afternoon was topped off by deliciously cool popsicies- Welcome Aboard Elaine Seigel Lillian Felner Marcy Solomon Ronald & Judy Kaufman JCC Hosts Summer Pops On July 19, the Jewish Community presented a perfor mance by the Charlotte Summer Pops. Over 120 members gathered to hear this very exhilarating concert. Both young ^d old enjoyed the music which ranged from classical to a Michael Jackson medley. This event and the phase-in process to follow will positively channel the com munity's energy in its quest for a Jewish Community Center of the highest quality. Fall Celebration On Sunday, September 23, the Jewish Commimity Center will have a celebration of the fall equinox with a picnic and hike. The entire family is invited to bring a dish to pass, their own eating utensils, and a pair of walking shoes. The park has several lovely nature trails. Shelter Number One (next to the main parking lot at the end of the Park road) is reserved for the Jewish Communi ty Center’s group from 2:30 p.m. until sunset.
