Page 15-THE NEWS-May, 1985 Federation Pursues Multi-Faceted Programs cont’d from P. 1 stitutions and organizations is grappling with a wide variety of ways to enhance existing activities and programs as well as to create new ones. Social Services is a classic success story. A waiting list of clients for vocational, geriat ric, and family counseling has resulted in the hiring of Dr. Marvin Weber, a second pro fessional counselor, who will work half time in support of the work done by the Social Services Director, Mrs. Adrienne Rosenberg. Almost 500 different addresses (that’s a way of saying families or .single individuals) have been served out of a total list of 1600 addresses. Women’s Division is moving strongly in the area of a Business and Professional Group designed to meet the special interests of this emerg ing large contingent of com munity members without com peting with the existing women’s groups. Community Leadership Development is smother £irea in process both for potential leadership in any aspect of the community and for support for current leadership. This summer. Federation will assist teens wanting to attend special programs and insti tutes in Israel to do so through the distribution of $2000 in scholarship funds. And the list goes on...the re cent concert of the Amranim, Israeli singers, cosponsored by the Federation, JCC and the Israeli Tourist Bureau; the third Annual Community Afikomen Hunt cosponsored with the JCC; Social Services’ recent series on “Coping with Aging Parents” also cospon sored with the JCC. In the fall will come the 1986 Campaign with its whirlwind of activities, speakers, special events, socials, Super Sunday and Superior Sunday, all utilizing the combined efforts of more than 150 dedicated volunteers. The funds raised and sdlocated from the Cam paign make possible the pro grams and services of such in stitutions and organizations as the Blumenthal Home, BBYO, Hillel, Lubavitch, the JCC, the Academy, as well as 30 additional here in Charlotte, around the nation, in Israel and eu*ound the world.
