Federation Pursues Multi-Faceted Programs
cont’d from P. 1
stitutions and organizations is
grappling with a wide variety
of ways to enhance existing
activities and programs as
well as to create new ones.
Social Services is a classic
success story. A waiting list of
clients for vocational, geriat
ric, and family counseling has
resulted in the hiring of Dr.
Marvin Weber, a second pro
fessional counselor, who will
work half time in support of
the work done by the Social
Services Director, Mrs.
Adrienne Rosenberg. Almost
500 different addresses (that’s
a way of saying families or
.single individuals) have been
served out of a total list of
1600 addresses.
Women’s Division is moving
strongly in the area of a
Business and Professional
Group designed to meet the
special interests of this emerg
ing large contingent of com
munity members without com
peting with the existing
women’s groups.
Community Leadership
Development is smother £irea
in process both for potential
leadership in any aspect of the
community and for support
for current leadership. This
summer. Federation will assist
teens wanting to attend
special programs and insti
tutes in Israel to do so
through the distribution of
$2000 in scholarship funds.
And the list goes on...the re
cent concert of the Amranim,
Israeli singers, cosponsored by
the Federation, JCC and the
Israeli Tourist Bureau; the
third Annual Community
Afikomen Hunt cosponsored
with the JCC; Social Services’
recent series on “Coping with
Aging Parents” also cospon
sored with the JCC.
In the fall will come the 1986
Campaign with its whirlwind
of activities, speakers, special
events, socials, Super Sunday
and Superior Sunday, all
utilizing the combined efforts
of more than 150 dedicated
volunteers. The funds raised
and sdlocated from the Cam
paign make possible the pro
grams and services of such in
stitutions and organizations
as the Blumenthal Home,
BBYO, Hillel, Lubavitch, the
JCC, the Academy, as well as
30 additional here in
Charlotte, around the nation,
in Israel and eu*ound the world.
So much more than a knock
on your door! The Federation
£ind all its activities C£dl out to
you, reach out to you, every
day. Answer that call and
become a strong Jew, a
stronger person and help
strengthen our community.
