Sit ting on the floor and dressed very comfortably, members and guests were taught some basic steps in self defense by our own Sandra Pemell and by Jerome “Magic” Johnson of the Jerome and Roberts American Karate School. The large turnout proves just how interested women are in the art of self defense. Safety Awareness — Festival in the Park In conjunction with WSOC, Ha Lailgih spent a very mean ingful night at the park. Volunteers helped fingerprint children and explained the im portance of what they were do ing for both the children emd parents. A special thanks goes to Jerome “Magic” Johnson and his friends for chaperon ing the ladies of Ha Lailah and especially for meiking all the kids smile. Fund raising Once again Ha Lailah will have entertmnment books for sale. For more information call Brenda Manes, 364-9338. November Meeting Have you ever wished for a new you? Charlotte Special Olympics On November 15, Charlotte Chapter will once again assist with the Special Olympics bowling event. This is a pet project for many of our members. Anyone interested in participating please call Ilene Burstein, 847-7232. Gift Wrap Our annual Gift Wrap fund raiser is scheduled for December 13-24 at Cotswold Mall. A training session, along with brunch and an exciting program, will be held on November 20. Look for a flier for further details. Parenting With A Purpose The next class entitled “Television and Your Child” will be presented by Hetty Wilson of the Red Cross on November 21 at 10 a.m. Babysitting is provided.
