Coming in December - Oper ation Snowflake - the Charlotte Jewish community’s £mnu£il Christmas volunteer program. Please volunteer about 4 hours of your time on Christmas eve or Christmas day so that our Christian friends can spend the holiday with their families. We will fill positions normsdly staffed by volunteers at three Charlotte hospit£ds and will also staff positions at the Mecklenburg County Jail. Temple Beth El com memorated the High Holy Days at Dana Auditorium on the Queens College campus. This enables the entire con gregation to worship together. In prior years it was necessary to have two assemblies of wor shippers because of the size of the Temple Sanctuary is too small for our growing congre gation. Social Club The recently formed Beth El Social Club is engaged in a full program of activity. On Oc tober 27, the group visited the North Carolina State Zoo in Asheboro via a motor cjiravan. Members brought their own box lunches and enjoyed a dutch treat dinner on the way back. Future activities include at tending the Colonial Cup in Camden, S.C. on November 17. This is the outstanding steeplechase race of the year. The cost per person will in clude travel by chsirtered bus, entrance fee to the races and dinner. Members will bring their own box lunch. On December 22, there will be a visit to Old Salem and Reynolda House in Winston- Salem, gdso by bus, with din ner included. For further infor mation/costs, etc. call the Temple, 366-1948. Men's Club On October 20, the Men’s Club hosted a political forum with the Republican and Democratic candidates for mayor, Dave Berryhill and Harvey Gantt, presenting their goals for the city’s future. A lively question period followed. The famous lox and bagel breakfast preceded the program.
