Page 17-THE NEWS December, 1985 Bulletin Board B^nai B^rith Lodge Israel Bonds Honored Rabbi Rocklin Join your fellow Jews in Charlotte’s annual Christmas substitution program. Please volunteer about four hours of your time on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day so that our non-Jewish friends can spend the holiday with their families. We will fiU positions normally staffed by volunteers at three Charlotte hospitals and will also staff positions at the Mecklenburg County Jail. No experience necessary! B’nai B'rith Lodges across the state are participating in the project this year. Please give of your time; the rewards are astound ing. Held in Atlanta, the seminar attracted 40 Lodge presidents from the South eastern U.S. The program was designed to enhance our leadership skills, increase our knowledge of the B’nai B’rith organization and structure, and teach us methods of effec tive programming. The week end was great fun and a fan tastic learning experience. The Lodge will attend the Davidson vs Duke basketball game at the Charlotte Col iseum on December 18. They came to honor Rabbi Ricliard Rocklin and to hear a stirring address from David Schoenbrun, noted TV broadcaster, author and journalist. Rabbi Rocklin -was present ed the United Jerussdem City of Peace Award for his con tinuing commitment to the State of Israel. The dinner was the keynote of the armual drive to promote the sale of Israel Bonds, a ma jor source of developmental capital for Israel. Proceeds from bond sales £0*6 channeled through Israel’s development budget to help finance in dustrial and agricultural pro jects and construction of highways, harbors and new towns. Under the direction of Rab bi Marc Wilson, the Adam's Mark prepared a strictly kosher dinner. The necessary kosher utensils have been stored and will be available for future kosher affairs. Chairperson of this year’s campaign is Allen Gordon; cochair is Mark: Goldsmith.
