Three of our November meet ings were thought-provoking sessions that led to spirited discussions. Ms. Helene Koenigsburg, R.N., Mecklen burg Mental Health Services, held us as we explored the following topics: How to Be Heard in Your Own Family: Family Changes; What to Do When Others Around You Are Fussing. We also heard a lec ture on contemporary Jewish literature prepared and presented by Ms. Jenny Rosenthal of the Charlote Mecklenburg Public Library. December’s programs will feature a speaker from Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Pro gram, a Health Maintenance Organization for seniors, and a Chanukah pot luck party in conjunction with the students from the Hebrew Academy. Chai-Lites’ biggest news is the VAN! The beautiful new van, a gift made possible by many friends and supporters of the JCC (including the Chai- Lites), is on the move! Mrs. Annie Goldberg, representing Chai-Lites, presented a $1250 check to Miles Levine, JCC President, at the Oct. Board of Director’s Meeting, to be used towards purchase of JCC van. Silent Auction The Second Annual JCC Silent Auction, held on Satur day evening, November 3 at Charlotte’s Marriot Executive Park, was attended by over 200 JCC members, friends and guests. They enjoyed the hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, dinner and dancing. Larry Farber’s band played throughout the evening as guests perused the wide array of auction items displayed in the ballroom. From mink coats to room heaters, cultured pearls to out door grills, bidders were en couraged to write down their intended donations for the vast selection of items available. Linda Greenfeld, Chairper son of the 1985 Auction, her committee people and the JCC staff wish to extend their thanks to all who made the event a successful, entertain ing and congenial evening.
