Imagination Tour II Was Exciting I Children's Activities
Imagination Tour II:
Charlotte’s second chance for
a close-up look at the new
Jewish Education and Com
munity Center was held on Oc
tober 20, with nearly 400 peo
ple on hand for the festivities.
Guided tours of the new
facility, refreshments, a hot £or
balloon, new games and a raf
fle drawing for a free health
club membership were the
highlights of the afternoon's
scheduled events. Represen
tatives of Temple Israel’s
Nursery School, Temples Beth
El and Beth Shalom’s
religious school, The Hebrew
Academy and the Jewish
Community Center were on
hand to welcome visitors to
the already recognizable
spaces they’ll occupy in the
building.
Even more exciting than the
progress of the building itself
was the almost palpable feel
ings of delight and enthusiasm

that all the visitors shared.
They imagined the school’s
hallways hung with children’s
artwork, the classrooms busy
with children’s activities, the

real excitement for Charlotte’s
Jewish community — a new
home, a new commitment, a
new unity.

Jewish Book Month Celebrated At
On November 3, the JCC
held a celebration of Jewish
Book Month at the Armstrong
House. Guests were welcomed
with a display and sale of
both adult and children’s
books provided by the Yiddish
Vinkl, Lubavitch of N.C.,
Black Forest Book Store, and
Ma’ayan, a Jewish book
distributor.
While a warm fire blazed,
hot cider and cookies were
served; this helped to take off
the chill of a rainy fall after
noon. Dr. Jon Rosenberg led
the children in songs and danc
ing and Ms. Bobbie Pollard
read stories to them, while
their parents joined the other
grownups in a Chanukah
book-buying spree. Dr. Jay
Jacoby discussed his an
