Page 7-THE NEWS-December, 1985 In And Around The JCC Imagination Tour II Was Exciting I Children's Activities Imagination Tour II: Charlotte’s second chance for a close-up look at the new Jewish Education and Com munity Center was held on Oc tober 20, with nearly 400 peo ple on hand for the festivities. Guided tours of the new facility, refreshments, a hot £or balloon, new games and a raf fle drawing for a free health club membership were the highlights of the afternoon's scheduled events. Represen tatives of Temple Israel’s Nursery School, Temples Beth El and Beth Shalom’s religious school, The Hebrew Academy and the Jewish Community Center were on hand to welcome visitors to the already recognizable spaces they’ll occupy in the building. All these future ac tivities are kindling a spark of real excitement for Charlotte’s Jewish community — a new home, a new commitment, a new unity. Skating at Ice Capadea Chalet at Eastland Mall Get into the winter spirit with ice skating lessons at the Ice Capades Chalet at Eastland Mall. The class fee includes a thirty-minute lesson, skate rental and unlimited free skating time. Club 23 and Club 46 Jewish Book Month Celebrated At On November 3, the JCC held a celebration of Jewish Book Month at the Armstrong House. Guests were welcomed with a display and sale of both adult and children’s books provided by the Yiddish Vinkl, Lubavitch of N.C., Black Forest Book Store, and Ma’ayan, a Jewish book distributor. While a warm fire blazed, hot cider and cookies were served; this helped to take off the chill of a rainy fall after noon. Dr. Jon Rosenberg led the children in songs and danc ing and Ms. Bobbie Pollard read stories to them, while their parents joined the other grownups in a Chanukah book-buying spree. Dr. Jay Jacoby discussed his an notated bibliography of Julia Gunn listens to story. Jewish children’s books. Mrs. Gladys Lavitan presented reviews of three new novels by Jewish authors, accompanied by Dr. Susan Cernyak-Spatz who read excerpts from the Debbie Telem studies Jewish cookbooks. books.
