They were presented the award by Gov. Jim Martin in Raleigh for their volunteer work at The Oaks nursing home in Huntersville. • Dr. Scott Jaben delivered an address on macular degeneration, a vision disorder, at the national American Academy of Ophthalmology convention held recently in San Francisco. • Michal W. Chase, who has recently returned to Ft. Mill, SC, has opened a new realty office. Ivan Dimitri Ch ase has returned to Stonybrook, NY, from France where he spoke at a seminar on Biological Sociology. They are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Chase. • Jules Buxbaum, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jules Buxbaum, a stu dent in the MBA program at the University of Chicago, has been named to the Dean’s list. Bob Heller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Heller, has been nam ed Associate National Editor of National News Dept, of the Atlanta Constitution and Journal. • Ira Rohde, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerard Rolide, has won an Ida Meyer Cantorial award. Ira is a student in the Rabbinical Program at Yeshiva University and is also a Cantor at Temple Beth Abraham in North Bergen, NJ. He has been winning awards for his cantorial ability since he was 12 years old. • Amy Marks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Goldman, hav ing passed the National Boards, is now a certified surgical technologist. • Recently The Charlotte Observer pictured Ethel (Mrs. Allen) Gordon’s pastel drawing “PreHeat 375” in sev'eral of their edi tions. It was selected by the NC Print & Drawing Society Ex hibition and was displayed in the lobby of Knight Publishing Company. • Congratulations go to the winners of the recent elections...
