Page 8-THE NEWS-February, 1986 Charlotte BBW Presents **Parenting With a Purpose** This is the year to travel • •• “Parenting With a Purpose” is Charlotte B’nai B’rith Women’s newest program. On the third Thursday of every month, professionals are in vited to speak with parents on different aspects of parenting. Our first program featured Dr. Paul Putterman, Pediatrician, and Dr. Scott Goodman, Pedodontist, who answered questions on various medical and dental problems and developments. Other pro grams have included hazards in your home and community, suicide prevention, television and your child, and a CPR class through the American Red Cross. All classes are open to the community and babysit ting is provided. While the parents are learning to become more effective in their parent ing role, the children get an op portunity to socialize. The following programs are scheduled: Feb. 20, Pat Sigefield of the Public Library will speak on how a child develops through books and what to look for in a book for the appropriate age of the child. March 20, a represen tative from Piedmont Airlines and AAA Motor Club will discuss traveling with children. April 17, “safety and your child" by a represen tative from the Charlotte Police Department giving ad vice and information. In May, we will hear from child psychologist and author of Parent Power, John Rose- mond. This program will be in the evening so all interested parents can attend.
