About 200 guests enjoyed a dinner of chicken Veronique, rice pilaf and zucchini fans. A heavily ladened fruit table of fered patrons an alternative to a rich chocolate mousse paired with homemade almond macaroons. Following dinner, master of ceremonies Stephen Fishman reminisced about past Galas before introducing Abe Luski who recounted the founding of the school in 1970. Berta Straz, Abe’s daughter, spoke of the school’s move to Shalom Park and its plans for the future. Peggy Gartner presented Abe with a cer tificate of appreciation for the efforts of the 18 founders. Annette and Richard Gross were the dehghted winners of a beautifully framed embossed print by Israeli artist Rena Rotholz who is represented in the United States by Pucker- Safrai Gallery in Boston. As at past Galas, UNCC professor friends of Stephen Fishman served as bartenders and waiters. Showing increas ing professional polish at tableside were Dr. and Mrs. Edward St. Clair, Dr. and Mrs. Richard Toenjes, Dr. Bill Gay, Dr. Michael Corwin, Dr. Jeff Meyer and Dr. John Lincourt. Alesia Fishman, former Academy student, also served. The following friends generously donated goods for the Gala: Seidman & Seidman, Pepsi, Dick and Charlene Muller, Joe Steiner, Larry Widis, Linda Binnick, Steward and Patti Scher, Moshe and Berta Straz, Sara Schreibman and Elliot Gartner. Other heads of committees were: General Chair, Ann Abel; Reservations, Sara Schreibman and Florence Widis; Invitations, Dick Muller; Publicity and Pro grams, Martha Brenner, Sue Brodsky and Luba Kleinman; Photography, Alan Goldberg.
