Page 13-THE NEWS-September. 1986 mmm JCC Children’s Programs DANCE DANCERCISE 3 & 4 Year Olds A creative dance experience achieved through the use of stories, music and “props.” Children will move creatively to music and improve gross motor coordination skills. Tuesday 3:15-4:00 p.m. $22 M/$32 NM Instructor: David Heustess CREATIVE MOVEMENT Kindergarteners A creative dance experience through the use of music, stories, and “props” during which children will begin to understand body movement and express ideas. Emphasis placed on learning to follow instructions and work with others. Wednesday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $22 M/$32 NM Instructor: David Heustess DANCEMANIA 1st & 2nd Graders Dancemania is a creative movement experience geared towards teaching children to use their bodies as a means of expression. Children will begin dance training through the use of problem solving games and activities. Tuesday 4:00-5:00 p.m. $22 M/$32 NM Instructor: David Heustess INTRODUCTION TO MODERN DANCE 7th - 12th Graders Beginning level of modem dance to train students in the physical and expressive qualities of dance as an art form. Wednesday 7:30-9:00 p.m. $30 M/$40 NM Instructor: David Heustess INTRODUCTION TO JAZZ DANCE 7th - 9th Graders Beginning level of jazz dance to teach students in the physical and expressive qualities of dance as an £U"t form. Students will be introduced to the development of jazz as a dance medium in addition to the techniques of musical theatre and contemporary jazz styles. Wednesday 4:00-5:30 p.m. $25 M/$35 NM Instructor: David Heustess PRE-BALLET 1 & 2nd Graders This class is designed to introduce young children to the art of classical ballet. Students will learn the basic positions of the hands and feet, as well as fundamental ballet steps. Coordina tion and motor skiU development will be emphasized. Students will also do creative movement to enhance imaginative skills and learn to listen and hear music.* Tuesday 3:15-4:15 p.m. $25 M/$35 NM Instructor; Claudia Folts BALLET I 3rd - 5th Graders This class is designed to introduce young children to the art of classical ballet. As in pre-ballet, students will learn basic ballet movements. Proper terminology is emphasized along with cor rect body placement and coodination. Long hair must be neatly pulled back from the face and pinned in a bun. Pink tights and pink ballet shoes are required. A leotard is allowed, but please, no stripes, polka dots or fluorescent colors. CLUB DUES: $30 M/$45 NM CLUB 45 ^ Graders Members will meet on the 3rd Sunday of each month for a special program or activity of their own selection. CLUB DUES: $30 M/$45 NM TWEEN COUNCIL & TWEEN SUNDAY 6th - 8th Graders Tween Council is a special council for 6th - 8th Graders which will meet on the 2nd Sunday of each month. Council members will be selected to represent Temple Beth El V’Shalom Youth Group. Temple Israel’s Kadima and the JCC. The council will plan and coordinate activities of the Tweens in the community on the 2nd Sunday of each month. Tween Sunday will begin at 4 p.m. for a brief social half-hour. At 4:30 p.m. each Tween will participate in a workshop of their choice in the areas of art. (drama, ceramics and dance) athletics or specialties (photography, cooking, rocketry). At 5:30 the group will meet for dinner followed by a specialty program. TWEEN DUES: $18 M/$25 NM (There will be a $2 charge for dinner.) TEEN COUNCIL 9th - 12th Graders This council will be comprised of selected 9th - 12th Grade representatives from MAFTY. United Synagogue Youth. BBYO. the JCC and “at large” members. The council will meet on the first Sunday of each month to calendar activities for 9th - 12 graders, plan teen conununity-wide activities and events, develop leadership skills and participate in community-wide outreach pro grams. Each council representative will be responsible for a specific area and committee.
