“Jim, we’re sorry, but we have to let you go- When Jim’s company had to retrench, his life and his family’s life turned upside down for 5 months. Then, last December, a Super Sunday caller asked Jim to contribute to the 1986 Federation/United Jewish Ap peal Campaign. Here’s what Happened in Jim’s words. V “I don’t know why, but I told him I was out of work. He helpfully asked if I would accept a call from the Federation’s Jewish Social Services worker. 1 felt cared about, and I said yes. “She called the next day and we met several times. She gave me the support, encouragement and practical help I needed to start over. “The ICC arranged for my family to remain active members. My son was able to continue at the Hebrew Academy. Then, when my grandmother needed it, the Blumenthal Home worked it out for her to be admitted. “I’m back on my feet now and paying my way again. I’ll never forget how the Federation and everyone else helped when I needed it. ” Jim could be your neighbor, your friend, your brother or yourself. The 35 institutions supported by you through the Federation are here for everyone. With your help we’ll continue to do what must be done.
