The entrance to the Blumen thal Education Building is graced by a stainless steel and brass mezuza designed by the noted Israeli sculptor Dani Kafri and has been donated by Leonard and Evelyn Berger in honor of their three grand children. The two entrances to the Leon and Sandra Levine Com munity Center area are embellished by the silver and gold plated mezuzot of the well known Israeli sculptor Frank Meisler. These two beautiful mezuzot are still available for purchase and donation. Inter ested parties may contact Ethel Gordon or Patty Gorelick. Four matching Israeli silver mezuzot have also been ac- 3uired. The Gorelick family is onating one for each entrance to Gorelick Hall; the Luski family is donating one for the Luski Youth Center; and Marilyn and Harry Swimmer are donating one for the Swim mer Arts and Crafts Center. We also have received on loan from Allen Saxe eight original Israeli photographs on artists canvas. These are most unusual, as they look like paintings, not photographs. They are on display in the room adjoining the Chai Lounge. A big thank you goes to our donors for the beautiful new additions to our building. We hope all our members will look for and enjoy the mezuzot £ind photographs on their next trip to Shalom Park. — Patty Gorelick WANTED Part-time Sales & Clerical Help For The Christmas Season Contact Harold Rousso BROWNLEE JEWELERS Park Road Shopping Center Phone — 527-1717 YOUR ACCOUNTANT KNOWS BEST! *is 1986 the best year to make a gift to the Federation’s Jewish Community Fund?” Your accountant will probably answer with an emphatic “YES’*. Guests, some of whom were the original members of the JCC Board of Directors, gathered in Gorelick Hall to surprise Sol on this occasion. Mark Bernstein, president of The Foundation, addressed the group speaking of the ear ly years of the JCC, how far they had come since the incep tion and of the contributions WHNTi ADS I****' ' yoir ■Mih call 366-5007 Sol and Ada Shapiro with the “gift of art.” made by Sol Shapiro. Ethel Gordon, chairperson of the Visual Arts Committee, unveiled the piece of art and briefly described it. Ada Shapiro followed with the ac tual presentation to The Foundation. The abstract, 5x7 foot art work titled “Jacob’s Ladder” by Israeli artist Caiman Shemi, is called a soft paint ing. It is composed of layers of fabrics and fibers. The techni que used by the artist creates an illusion of an oil painting of soft opaque as well as translu cent colors. It may be enjoyed from a distance but close up the communication between viewer and artwork is most evident. The piece was temporarily hung in Gorelick Hall for the Dedication Weekend and is now being prepared for perma nent display there. The artwork is a marvelous enhancement to our complex. Our thanks to Ada for finding this most fitting way to honor her husband. Money For Tomorrow — It’s Our Business Call on me Paul S.
