The Chai-Lites have been in volved in a variety of pro grams and activities. In November, the monthly Lun cheon Club met at The Chateau. Also, members from the group saw ‘‘Breakfast with Les and Bes” at the Lit tle Theater of Charlotte. On Nov. 24, a pre-Thanksgiving lunch was cosponsored by the HaLailah Chapter BBW. These women provided tradi tional Thanksgiving dishes such as sweet potatoes, beans, rolls, cranberry sauce and desserts. The turkey was prepared by Phil’s Deli. Everything was absolutely delicious! The Chai members have been busy preparing book covers for the kindergarten and first-grade classes of the Hebrew Academy. In the Arts and Crafts class, art smocks were made for all the Hebrew Academy students and were presented to them at a pre- Chanukah party sponsored by the Chai-Lites. Also the Chai- Lites have begun holding a brunch one Sunday a month, followed by a feature movie. Beginning this month, Sy Hastings, President of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Chapter of AARP, will lead a discussion group on current events every Monday. Also through the Presbyterian Hospital Speakers Bureau, health care professionals will speak to the group on a number of topics. A represen tative from BodyWorks will also continue to lead the group in non-stressful activities specifically designed for senior adults. New members are always welcome. Senior Health Clinics To Be Held On Monday, Jan. 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. Community Health Services will sponsor the first senior health clinic at the “J” for persons over age 55. Blood pressure and pulse will be tested and a urinalysis will be administered on this date. These clinics will meet four times each year on a schedul ed basis. In April a glaucoma exam will be offered; in July hemoglobin and blood sugar checks. Flu vaccines will be given in October. Blood pressure and pulse will be tested during each of these clinics. Clinical results will be immediately avsdlable to pfu-- ticipants in addition to follow- up contacts if needed. There wQl be a $5 charge for all of the clinics noted. Community Health Services is a multi-function agency dedicated to the good health of people of Mecklenburg and Union counties through educa tion and early disease detection. The purpose of the Jewish Com munity Center’s Mother’s Morning Out program is to provide a high quality first experience for the toddler. Within a warm, secure environment, staffed by profes sional caregivers, your child will encounter a range of experiences geared to differing interests and temperments.
