Page 4-THE NEWS-February.1987 Hebrew Academy News Your Federation Dollars At Work HERE A Spiritual Victory By Cheryl Spangenthal The victory of good over evil is always cause for celebration and rememberance. Con gratulations to Ziva London and Berta Straz who organ ized a wonderful Chanukah program at the Hebrew Academy. The joy and excite ment will be remembered by all who were present. The decorations were absolutely fabulous and after the celebra tion they were donated to the children’s ward of Presbyter ian Hospital. The celebration began with the K-2 graders who sang the blessings for the Menorah as well as many traditional Chanukah songs. The 3rd-5th graders sang songs, danced and then performed a play reliving the miracle itself. Special effects by the children (flashlights, colored strips of paper, costumes, etc.) added to the atmosphere of happiness and joy. After the perfor mance a wholesome lunch (in cluding latkes, of course!) was served. The miracle of Chanukah continues to be commem orated and enjoyed. May the spirit and message of the festival be felt throughout the year. Many thanks to Charlene Muller and Marilyn and Stan Cohen for coordinating the meal, Roslyn and Roger Meyers for the latkes, Andy London for providing live music and all the parents and teachers who helped with the preparations.
