The Visual Arts Committee gratefully acknowledges the following donations of art to the Foundation: Hy Spectorman has pre sented a framed poster from the Tel Aviv Museum depict ing Theodore Herzl and his vision of Israel. The poster commemorates Israel Inde pendence Day. The piece was donated in memory of his parents, Pepi and Meilech Spectorman, members of the Halutz movement, pioneers of Israel. David and Lila Mann have given two Israeli glass pieces to our collection. Florence Jaffa, in honor of her husband Ben’s birthday, has given a mezzuzah to be hung at the entrance to the Adult Lounge at the Jewish Community Center. This lounge was made possible by the Jaffa families. The mez zuzah, an original art work by the Israeli artist Frank Meisler, is made of plated silver, gold and bronze. Contributions in memory of Irving Kaufman, father of Louise Bernstein, have been made by Riva and Solomon Baicovitz, Lina and Herman Levine, Florence and Ben Jaf fa, and Ethel and Allen Gordon. Serigraphs on Loan to the Foundation The suite, “Seasons of Man,” seven serigraphs by the contemporary Israeli artist Shraga Weil, has been lent to the Foundation by Maxine Levine, former Charlotte resi dent now living in Maui, Hawaii. Shraga Weil, born in Nitra, Czechoslovakia in 1918, studied art in Prague and Paris before going in 1947 by illegal immigrant ship to Palestine. He settled at the Kibbutz Haogen, where he and his family still reside. His works have been exhibited throughout the world. He has been commissioned to do large murals and reliefs in such places as the Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C., the Knesset Building, Jerusalem, and the Israeli Pavilion, Expo '67, Montreal. Look for these graphics (silk-screen prints) of rich multi-colors and gold throughout the Shalom Park facility. Four have been plac ed in the Blumenthal Educa tion Building foyer, one in the JCC office and two in the large board room. Each work, filled with symbolism, is a feast for the eyes. The works are titled: Windows, Arena, Garden, Studio, Temple, Archives and Maze. Daniel Levine, son of Max ine, brought the artworks to the attention of the Visual Arts Committee and arranged for their display.
