After a sump- tious meal was served, they were entertained by Marvin Bienstock who strummed his guitar and sang Yiddish songs which were tape recorded. This tape is being distributed to those older adults who are confined to area nursing homes. February 8 marked Char lotte B’nai B’rith Women’s second annual Mental Health Fair, at Eastland Mall. This fair, cosponsored by B’nai B’rith Women and the Mental Health Association was a huge success. Various agen cies were on hand with free in formation for the public. Children were entertained with story telling, coloring and a puppet show presented by “Kids on the Block”. The Senior Women of our chapter have been enjoying an extremely productive year. For the past two months they have been making hand pup pets that will be presented in March to the Howell Center on Albemarle Rd. This center is a residential treatment center for the profoundly retarded. The founder of this center and three others in the state, Irene Smith Howell, was the 21st recipient of the chapter’s Human Relations Award in February. Charlotte members are busy at work again msiking tapes to be distributed to the pediatric wards at Charlotte Memorial and Presbyterian Hospitals. These tapes of stories, poems and nursery rhymes are given to the “kids” when they are confined to their beds or when they are waiting for tests to be administered. If anyone is in terested in taping for this wor- thwile cause please notify Margie Liebstein, 541-1844. In conjunction with the na tional G.E.N.E. The “Come as You Are” theme brought fifty-four people together for good com pany, good food and a good time. Pasta by Penny: Penny Eisenberg showed the girls of Hunter House how to prepare some nutritious yet inexpen sive pasta meals. Colleen Eps tein, Meredith Glazer, Linda Spil, Lauren Lassman, Patti Sher and Maddie Joffe brought the extras to round out dinner and had a wonder ful time playing with the babies while their mothers were having cooking lessons. Turkey, fresh green beans, parsleyed potatoes and sorbet was the menu for HaLailah’s Older Adult Luncheon. We had a record crowd of twenty- seven people. Chai-Chaverim BBG’s talent show with the help of Josh Rosen was the highlight of the afternoon. Jackie Stutts, her mother, Eva Miller, and their committee: Cheryl Comen, Meredith Glazer, Colleen Epstein, Dayle Fligel, Florence Widis, Patti Weisman, Wendy Rosen, Maddie Joffe, Marty Gerber and Lizzann Taylor all enjoyed working on this wonderful CVS project.
