We proudly announce the ninth annual Charlotte Yiddish
Institute at Wildacres. The Institute is open to women and
men interested in advancing their knowledge and use of
our rich Yiddish language and culture in a stimulating and
unique atmosphere of Yiddishkeit.
Enjoy the magnificent surroundings of Wildacres, a
mountaintop retreat of 1,400 acres set in the heart of the
Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina.
Wildacres is dedicated to the betterment of human
understanding and its facilities, operated on a non-profit
basis, are administered by the Blumenthal Foundation.
CHARLOTTE YIDDISH INSTITUTE: Faculty lec
tures; Yiddish language workshops; Yiddish culture
workshops; concerts; folksinging and dancing; daily and
Shabbat services, gift shop; nature walks; and a warm and
friendly environment of haimishkeit!

Abe Brumberg: folksinger, author, editor,
writer for The NY Times
FEES: $135 per person (double occupancy only) cover
ing tuition, room, meals and gratuities. Rooms are located
in two main, modern lodges. A deposit of $35 per person
must accompany each reservation. No refund of deposit
unless cancellation is made prior to Apr. 23. Bsdance of
fee must be paid in full by Apr. 30.
OPENING SCHEDULE: Thursday May 7,3-5 p.m., arrival
and registration; 6:30 p.m. dinner, 7:45 p.m. evening
Minyan; 8:15 p.m. evening program. Institute in session
until Sun., May 10, 11:00 a.m.

Installation of Officers
The 1987-88 board will be of
ficially installed on April 29, 8
p.m. at the Marriott Hotel on
Tyvola Road. Awards will be
presented to various lodge
members for outstanding
achievements and new
members will be inducted into
the lodge. The evening will
conclude with coffee and
dessert. All members and their
wives or girlfriends are in
vited. Dress is semi-formal.

Recent Events
In February, the lodge co
sponsored the appearance of
noted biblical scholar Colonel
Itzhak Itzhaki at Shalom Park.
The evening was a success
with a crowd of 125 in atten
dance to see and hear Col. It-
zhaki’s presentation on Ar-
ch«*ology and the Bible. The
lodge wishes to thank the
Federation for cosponsoring
the evening with us.
For the second year, the
lodge played a role in collect
ing canned food for Loaves &
Fishes annual ‘Charlotte Has

The Carolina Agency for
Jewish Education (CAJE)
Resource Center provides
Jewish educational materials
for teachers and educators
throughout the Carolines and
beyond.
CAJE publishes a monthly
newsletter “The CAJE Page”
which is sent to Jewish
teachers in the Carolines and
to Boards of Jewish Education
and Educational Resource
Centers in the U.S. and
Canada. The CAJE Resource
Center is housed at Temple
Beth El V’Shalom in the old
