Lisa will be continuing her Jewish education in New York at Rabbinical School. In a few years we will be calling her “Rabbi Vernon”. Lisa and her husband, Joe Tuckman, will naturally miss the friends they have made in Charlotte and in the Jewish community. Lisa said she “will especially miss the children and watching them grow up’', and she is pleased to note, “the school is booming with growth—a 30% increase in Lisa with husband Joe Tuckman. enrollment!” The Hebrew pro gram from the younger grades up “is a bit more formal now, and from K on, the children are receiving a half-hour of Hebrew weekly; by the fourth grade they have an hour week ly and are able, by then, to read Hebrew. Additionally, the 4th, 5th and 6th graders with no Hebrew background can start basics with a group on their own level, proficiency, and age mates.” Lisa says she “sees a great potential for what the children will be able to do after completing the program.” While the school has an ac tive library program, Lisa is hoping the future will expand the scope of the fine arts pro grams, and that “every child wiU be involved in worthwhile projects in religious school.” “Every place has its unique character, and we have resdly enjoyed watching the Charlotte Jewish community grow and being an active part of this wonderful atmos phere.” Consolidated High School of Jewish Studies: Bar/Bat MItzvahs Temple Beth El V’Shalom June 13 — Scott Blacker, son of Mr. & Mrs. David Blacker Temple Israel June 6 — Lee Shapiro, .son of Dr. & Mrs. Marvin Shapiro June 20 — Ashley Widis, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Larry Widis ^PAPER PRODUCTS WAREHOUSE y OPEN TO THE PUBLIC ▲ BL I PAPERTOWN DISTlRIBUTORS 568-6663 4426 E.
