Summer Pops Coming The Chai-Lites had a very busy month during April in addition to preparing for Pesach. On April 26, the mon thly brunch was held and “Back to the Future” was shown on the VCR. A few days later those participating in the Luncheon Club ate at Domenica’s Courtyard, a quaint little restaurant in Mat thews housed in the Mercan tile Building. The Senior Health Clinic was held on April 29. Blood pressure and pulse were check ed and glaucoma tests were administered. The Chai group has decided to sponsor a child(ren) for camp. To date, $232 has been collected. The cost for camp for one camper for a three- week session is $180. Dona tions towards the camp scholarship from the Chai- Lites will graciously be accepted. The Tax Preparation Clinic sponsored by the A ARP from February through April 15 and held at the JCC proved to be very successful and will be repeated next year. Join the Chai-Lites on Mon days from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for lively discussion groups on current events and medically related topics, exercise classes, the Golden Age Walking Club and lots of good companion ship. Mark your calendar now for 7:30 p.m., Monday, July 27 at Shalom Park. Be sure to join The purpose of the Jewish Community Center’s Mothers Morning Out program is to provide a high quality first ex perience for the toddler. Within a warm, secure en vironment, staffed by profes sional caregivers, your child will encounter a range of ex periences geared to differing interests and temperments. Such a format will enhance the comprehensive development of the child by building self esteem, encouraging social in teractions and presenting a myriad of opportunities to leam through doing. This summer we will be open us for a delightful evening with the Charlotte Pops, top ped off with a free make-it- yourself ice cream sundae. Bring the whole family. No charge. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from June 8-August 21 (closed July 6). The program is open to cur rent members whose children wiU be at least 6 months and not more them 24 months by June 1. Tuition is $21 week or $200 for the full 11-week summer session. In addition there is a $20 non-refundable registra tion fee. Mothers Morning Out Open All Summer CPR Class The Jewish Community Center and B’nai B’rith are cosponsmng a CPR (car^o- pulmonary resuscitation) certification class on Sat., June 20. The course, which is open to both members and non-members of the JCC and B’nai B’rith, will be held 12:30-6 p.m. at the JCC. Cost is $12 per person which includes books and materials from the American Red Cross. Pre- registration is required by June 15 and may be done by 366-5007. Drivers Needed A driver is needed immediately on a part-time as need ed basis to fill in for our regular driver to transport Senior Adults, campers and students. June 22 is approaching fast - the kick off for our 1987 summer day camp season. Teen Travel Camp—Teen Safari This summer the J will be offering a teen travel camp for all 7th, 8th and 9th graders in the community. Each session our teens will participate in a variety of day trips each week culminating in a teen night on the town. The last week of each session they will go out of town for a three-night trip. This group will travel to Newport News, VA, Atlanta, GA, and Charleston, SC. For further information call Cary Bernstein at the ‘J’. Counselor in Training Program Are you interested in g£iining the experience and training to become a future camp counselor? This summer the ‘ J’ will of fer a counselor-in-training program for 9th and 10th graders. Counselors-in-Training will participate in workshops and ex periential learning situations in order to gain the expertise to be future camp counselors.
