Page 10-THE NEWS-August. 1987 In And Arov Chai-Lites Enjoy a Busy Summer May was a very busy month for the Chai-Lites. A number of persons attended the Free Symphony for Older Adults performed by the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra at Ovens Au^torium and spon sored by IBM. For Yom Ha’atz Maut the Chai group was entertained by a couple of dancers from the International Folk Dancing Society who did Israeli dancing. The day after Mother's Day all of the ladies in the Chai group received a small potted plant. The monthly Sunday brunch and movie day, held on May 24, was enjoyed by all those attending. The long awaited trip to the Blumenthal Home took place on May 26. The van was filled to capacity and everyone had a delightful day. Speakers from Presbyterian Hospital Speaker’s Bureau have finished their presenta tions which was a most in teresting and informative series. Welcome to Rose Naimon who has started volunteering with the Chai group. Rose will be accompanying the senior adults on an excursion once a month. On June 29, Bill Burton began his presentations on numerous countries around the world. Mr. Burton is a former Vice-President of Cor porate Communications at Duke Power. Originally from Columbus, Ga., he spent his entire 45-year career at this company. Since his retirement he has traveled extensively with his wife and has visited most of the continents. He now presents slide shows and talks at retirement homes and centers (Easthaven, The Manor, Sharon Towers, Bryan Center, Shepherd Center), book and garden clubs and numerous churches. We are very pleased that he will be with us through the entire summer. Diana Renfro, a registered dietician affiliated with Cen tral Community College, has just completed a ten-week series entitled “Nutrition and Wellness” for the Chai-Lites. In June, the Chai group’s monthly excursion was to Kannapolis where they went to the Visitors’ Center, shopped and had lunch. The Luncheon Club met at The Hungry Fisherman on Central Avenue where everyone had a delicious seafood meal.
