The children sang several songs they had learned this year under the direc tion of the school’s music teacher, Marlene Fuerstman. The graduates received their Preschool diplomas and told the au dience what they wanted to be when they grew up. After the ceremony, all of the children joined their parents and teachers for a piece of the graduation cake. Temple Israel Sisterhood Installs New Officers On June 10 at Temple Israel Sisterhood’s Installation Luncheon, the six vice presi dents of the Sisterhood were installed as a presidium. These women will divide the presi dential duties, in addition to holding their vice presidential positions. The presidium con sists of: Helene Nathanson, membership; Linda Goldsmith and Sandy Rosenberg, pro gram and education; Marcy Mehlman and Judy Miller, youth and simcha; Susan Rabinovich, fund raising. Additionsd members of the executive board are: Tobey Silber, treasurer; Arlene Karp, financial secretary; Helen Friedman, corresponding sec retary; Nancy Bernstein, recording secretary; Ginger Snitz, past president (advisor). Support Our Advertisers Rabbi Wilson Appointed to Two Committees Rabbi Marc Wilson of Tem ple Israel was recently ap pointed to two committees that serve the Charlotte medical community. He has been appointed to the Institutional Review Com mittee of Presbyterian and Mercy Hospitals. The Institu tional Review Committee is mandated by the FDA to re view requests from physicians to use experimental proce dures in the treatment of their patients. The Committee de cides whether permission will be granted and then carefully monitors the progress of the procedure. Rabbi Wilson was also re cently appointed to the Clini cal Pastoral Education Advi sory Committee of Charlotte Memorial Hospital. The CPE Committee monitors Memori al’s educational programs for seminary students and clergy who are involved in intensive training for hospital chaplain cy and other pastoral duties. The Committee reviews appli cations and consults on the curriculum and progress of the Program. The Rabbi also continues to serve as a member of the Bioethics Resource Group (along with Temple Israelites Drs. Gerald Berkowitz, David Citron, Jared Schwartz and Jessica Schorr-Saxe) and as a Board member of the Char lotte Chapter of ACLU.
