Page 17-THE NEWS-August, 1987 Hadassah To Hold Membership Luncheon Many exciting social and cultural events are planned for our membership this fall. On Monday evening, Sept. 14 there is a private invitational night of shopping for mer chandise especially selected for us at Loehman’s on Albemarle Road. Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 16, our aimu^ paid up membership luncheon, features guest speaker Sue Mizrahi, a member of the Na tional Board of Hadassah and the National Chairman of our Jewish Education Depart ment. Members Attend National Conference For the first time in many years, a delegation from Charlotte attended the Na tional Convention of Hadassah. The Convention was held from July 12-15 at the Baltimore Convention Center. The theme for the 75th Anniversary Convention and Celebration was “Cherish the Past — Chart the Future.” Elizabeth Klein, Charlotte Chapter President and Linda Gottlieb, Chapter Membership Vice President were honored to represent the Charlotte Chapter, Dorothy Gutmann Group and the Gastonia Group. Through workshops and presentations they learned many new things and are ready to share the new ideas and information with the chapters. One highlight of the Convention was the presenta tion of the Henrietta Szold Award to Secretary of State George Shultz. Membership Tea Held The Charlotte Chapter of Hadassah held a membership tea on June 24 at the home of Gina and Alan Strumpf. The following are new members: Peggy Rovman, Eve Feldman, Tonda Rifkin, Lisa Frucht. Also joining are transfer Life Memb^s: Debbie Brier, Debbie Rosenberger, Susan DeSamo, Iris Madison, Etta Greenspon and Cynthia Melenson. Hadassah is the largest Women’s Zionist Organization in the world, with 385,000 members. The Charlotte Chapter, with over 450 members, is about to welcome the Gastonia Group into its ranks. The next membership tea will be held this month at the home of Elizabeth Klein. All women who support the phi losophy of Zionism are invited to attend.
