Page 7-THE NEWS-September, 1987 Shalom Y^all Hosted a Summer Brunch By Lorrie Colish On Sunday, July 12, Shalom Y’all hosted a brunch for newcomers in the Charlotte Jewish community.Sandra Weinstein and her committee presented a lovely buffet table laden with bagels, cheeses and all the accompemiments. The main presentation of the morning was the introduction of the new Charlottesms. This roving reporter had the pleasure of interviewing the following newcomers. Mrs. Anne Gold used to call the suburbs of Boston her home, but has moved here to be with her daughter, son-in- law and grandchildren, the Weinstocks. Anne lives in the Strawberry Hill area and says she’ll love it here, especially if she stays well. Debbie and Jeff Brier moved here with their daughters Cor- rinne and Elyse from Ran dolph, New Jersey. Jeff is with Vanderbuilt Industrial Con tracting. Debbie is an active life member of Hadassah. Elka and Filip Yeskal have come all the way from Boulder, Colorado. They have four young children, two boys and two girls, who keep them busy, but they still manage to be pros on the tennis courts. Filip works for IBM. Mary and Arthur Horn came to Charlotte with the Gold stein family, the owners of The Bagel Works. They are happy to be here and are adjusting to our pace after having lived in Union, NJ and North Miami Beach. (L to R) Lorrie CoUsh, Annette and EmU Pagano. Bonnie and Louis Kornhaber, a young couple, are anxious to get involved in the communi ty. Louis was transferred here by Royal Insurance Company. Annette and Emil Pagano moved here a year ago from Long Island, NY. Their son Arthur also lives here. Emil is a world class musician, having played the flute with the New York Philharmonic, the Cleve land Orchestra, the Metropoli tan Opera and CBS. Annette has spent a lifetime in the an tique business and is recog nized as a very reliable authority on the subject. Nina and Steven Haas hail from Miami Beach, but Nina is no stranger to these parts as she was raised in Charlotte. He recently directed “Fiddler on the Roof” at Winthrop Col lege. They have one child, Lila, who is 2V2. Evelyn and Irving Hochstat, from Hazlit Heights, New Jersey, traveled around the country and decided to make Charlotte their home. They had no family here, just liked the people and the area. However, they were recently surprised to find that they do have a cousin here, Syd Goozner. What a smaU world! Linda Bernat arrived here from Louisiana. She is pleased to be back in North Carolina and is interested in partici pating in the “singles scene”. The smallest visitor to at tend this brunch was 14- month-old Sara Britt Levine, from Boca Raton, Florida. She was visiting her grandparents, the Eglowsteins.
