One activity to become ready for the Consolidated High School year was a well attended parent-teacher meeting at which teachers gave a brief explanation of their goals for the year. Perhaps the highlight of the meeting was George Acker man addressing the parents in Yiddish — it was very clear what he was going to teach! The presentation of the teachers made obvious on their part a sense of aliveness and interest that was bound to be caught by the students on opening day. It was obvious that the teachers would not just emphasize tjrpical class room work, but a sense of ex ploration and thinking. The excitement level about the course offerings was so high that many of the parents were disappointed that the classes were only open to their children. The parents were also given an opportunity to indicate an interest in assisting with developing the various pro grams. Members of the community are also invited to participate.
