Operation Snowflake On Christmas eve and Christmas day, B’nai B’rith lodges across the state spon sored Christmas Substitution programs. Jewish volunteers hlled non-critical jobs so that staff members and volunteers in hospitals could enjoy Christmas with their families. Here in Charlotte, the pro gram has been a tradition for about 20 years. This year, almost 70 men and women from the Jewish community volunteered to help in hospitd emergency rooms, at reception desks, information desks, nurses stations, and filed x- rays. At the County Jail, volunteers worked in booking and gate operations. The pro gram was organized this year by Steve Menaker, with help from Sandy Benjamin, who ar ranged for volunteers at Mer cy and Mercy South Hospi tals, and from Lloyd Scher, who arranged for media coverage.
