Page 20-THE NEWS>May, 1988 South of the Border Special News from Rock Hill, South Carolina What do you do if you’re an Episcopalian and you’re in charge of preparing a tradi tional Jewish Seder for 50 peo ple and you don’t know a mat- zoh ball from a bagel stick? If you’re Katherine Myers, you call your son-in-law, Chuck Hurst, and plead for mercy. Hurst works for Epi cure, a Rock Hill catering service. “It sure made it a lot easier on me knowing someone in the food business,” said Myers, a senior warden for the Episco pal Church of Our Saviour. She is one of several church members who planned the meal of Jewish foods. “Chuck is familiar with dif ferent cultural foods, as well as knowing where to buy it and how to prepare it. We thought we needed to have the authen tic food if we were going to reaUy get an understanding of their service.” Some of the foods included matzoh; a leg of lamb; charo- set, horseradish and roasted eggs. Myer’s church, at 144 Cald well St., Rock HiU, SC hosted the Passover Seder Mar. 16 from 6 to 7:45 p.m. It was open to the public. The meal was free, but a collection plate was passed. NEW YORK (JTA) - The Department of Defense has distributed a 96-page book entitled “Days of Remem brance” that assisted mem bers of the U.S. armed forces in organizing Holocaust edu cation programs and cere monies as part of this year’s national Holocaust remem brance.
