Lanes.
The last Alive class of the
series, “Moral, Ethics and At
titudes,” was held May 19 at
Shalom Park. Dr. Walter Feld
man, a legal-medical profes
sional and clinical director of
child and adolescent psychol-
ogy at Mecklenburg Mental
Health, was the speaker. This
was also the chapter’s May
general meeting. It was fol
lowed by a social hour and
delicatessen brunch.
The 1988 Biennial Conven
tion, a 4-day event, held at the
Fountainebleau-Hilton Hotel,
Miami Beach, was attended by
chapter members, Beth Lin-
derman, Jody Pinion, Joan
Gordon, Susan Bruck, Terri
Cathcart and Vicki Hopkins.
Charlotte Chapter received 13
awards at the awards banquet.
They included two “1st in
Region” — best Bulletin and
best comprehensive service

program by a chapter. Both
will go on to the national
competition.
Our members will be serving
as volunteers at the Children’s
Miracle Network Telethon on
June 5 at Carowinds. They will
“man” the phones, act as
hostesses in the VIP suite, and
sell telethon t-shirts.
The picnic for Seniors wiU be
held at Mickey Waldman’s
home on June 16.
All ads for the “Community

our 1988-89 President on May
18 at a luncheon held at Rain-
tree Country Club.
Audrey Madans, a native of
Malden, Massachusetts, lived
in Charlotte for 12 years
before moving to Salisbury
where she resided for 15 years.
While in Charlotte, prior to
moving, Audrey was Presi
dent of Temple Israel Sister
hood (1960-62) and Hadassah
VP Education. Her activities
in Salisbury included being
president of the following:
Temple Israel Sisterhood
(1972-1974), president of Tem
ple Israel (late ’70s), Salisbury-
Rowan Choral Society, Unit^
Arts Council of Rowan County,
Friends of Library of Rowan
County. The past few years
Audrey has been president of
the N.C. Association of Jewish
Women, member of Executive
The Carolina Agency for
Jewish Eduction in Charlotte

prizes in the 1987-88 “Creative
Project of the Year” award
competition. Sponsored by
CAJE to reward the most suc
cessful teacher-generated
classroom projects produced
during the school year among
the CAJE network of religious
schools, the contest created a
lively and varied challenge.
Criteria for judging in
cluded: Judaic content, adap
tability, age-appropriateness,
completeness, presentation
and, of course, creativity.
