Cooper Attended CAJE Conference In Israel Roz Cooper, director of the religious school of Temple Beth El V’Shalom, was in Israel this summer. She, to gether with 2,000 other North American, European and Is raeli educators met in Jeru salem, July 31 to August 5, at the 13th Annual Conference of the Coalition for the Advance ment of Jewish Education (CAJE). The Conference pro gram, developed by a commit tee of Americans and Israelis, was 2V2 years in planning. It was designed so that educa tors could share ideas, meth odologies and materials, as well as expose themselves to the historic, political and societal factors that have shaped Israel as a nation and as the Jewish homeland. Declared £m official event of Israel’s 40th anniversary cele brations, the Conference was endorsed by Israel's Educa tion Ministry, Teachers' Union and the Kibbutz Move ment. It received grants from the Joint Program for Jewish Education, the CRB Founda tion and North American Jew ish federations. Roz said, “It was £m injec tion of enthusiasm, a sharing of ideas and an intense emo tional experience. The edu cator needs to recharge, both professionaUy and personally, at regular intervals.
