In a special address to Jew
ish women before Rosh Hash-
anah, the revered world
Jewish leader, Rabbi Mena-
chem M. Schneerson, Luba*
vitcher Rebbe Shlita, launched
a new campaign which adds a
new meaning to the kosher
kitchen.
The Rebbe requested that a
Pushke (charity box) be in
stalled in every Jewish kit
chen. “The act of charity while
preparing food for yourself
symbolizes our concern for the
ones who are in need. Since the
World Beat
kitchen is the place where we
prepare our meals, it is only
fitting that we express our
concern in a practical way,
which is given to the hungry,”
the Rebbe said.
The annual pre-Rosh Hash-
£inah address c^aws thousands
of women from all over the
country to the Lubavitch Head-
qu2u*ters in Crown Heights,
Brooklyn. The talk includes
important lessons in Torah
and practical instructions in
Jewish life.

The students at Lubavitch
Day School and Preschool
ushered in the new year with
enthusiasm as they were intro
duced to their new teachers
and friends.
The new addition to the
school, the kindergarten, has
brought new excitement to the
students and teachers. Susan
Doobrow, who is teaching the
new program, has already
demonstrated her ability as a
super teacher in just a few
short weeks. Mrs. Doobrow
has been introducing her
students to the Lippincott
Program for beginner reading.
Susan believes in instilling
within the children the ability
to leam and comprehend new
concepts which wiU help them
in their future school years.
Chanie Weiss, Judaica
teacher, has been busy with
children of all grades teaching
them about the holidays and
basic reading of Hebrew.
Chanie brings to her students
enthusiasm and fun in a most
creative way. Chanie’s most
recent invention is “Pinky the
Pushke” who wears a Talit
Koton, but has a hole in his
head. Pinky marches around
the room and blinks when a
coin is dropped in his head.
The Judaica arts and crafts
include Shofar making, Tash-
lich construction and a per
sonalized Hebrew calendar for
the kindergarten children.
Fern Sanderson, morning
teacher at the preschool, wel
comed the large group of three
and four-year-olds to her
specialized program with her
famous smile. Fern has ex
celled in her ability to relate to
the children in a most sen

launched by the Lubavitcher
Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M.
Schneerson, in an effort to
