JCC “Gears Up” for Major Fundraiser:
Second Season with Golden Circle Theatre
The Jewish Community Cen
ter, in conjunction with the
Golden Circle Theatre, is gear
ing up for another exciting
season. All community minded
people are urged to support the
JCC’s major fund-raising pro
gram for next year. An ambi
tious and appealing range of
plays has been selected for this
coming year's season.
The season begins in January
with a classic from Broadway’s
king of comedy, Neil Simon. In
“The Good Doctor,” Simon
creates a series of hilarious
vignettes based on the whimsical
short stories of the Russian
playwright Chekhov. The com
pany returns in March with
Janies Goldman’s “The Lion in
Winter,” an historical drama
that recounts the passionate
story of Henry II and Eleanor
of Aquitain. Theatergoers can
expect generous doses of sharp
humor mixed with history-. In
April, the company will explore
the Asian sensibility as ex
pressed in “Rashomon” by Faye
and Michael Kamin. This imag
inative drama, based on a Jap
anese folk tale, suggests that
there are three sides to every
story: his version, her version
and the truth. The season closes
in May with Noel Coward’s
popular “Private Lives.” Sophis
ticated wit characterizes this
comedy about a game of marital
“musical chairs” played by a pair
of newlywed couples.
There will be five performan
ces of each play “The Good
