MARIE CEDARS
Marie Cedars will be the fea
tured speaker of the
Kristallnacht commemora
tive event. Marie Cedars is
an artist who earned her
Ph.D. in Humanities. Her
dissertation, “Speaking
Through Silence: The Art of
Elie Wiesel” (1984) made
her particularly sensitive to
the images that Wiesel’s
taut, understated style con
jured. In the decade since
then, she has continued to
read Wiesel’s works as they
appear and to write and lecture on them. During the last five
years, she has also returned to her prior field of visual arts aftei
a long hiatus. Thus.when she was reading The Six Days of De
struction, she was able to envision the actual scenes which be
