The Charlotte Jewish News - October, 1995 - Page 17 Carolina Agency for Jewish Education 6MTHS. SAME AS CASH CA J E Conference At Maximum Capacity The Twentieth Annual Confer ence on Alternatives in Jewish Edu cation, (CAJE) held at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, was a “full house” event, with every program of the confer ence filled to capacity. Twenty-two hundred Jewish educators, includ ing eight teachers, administrators and lay people from the Jewish schools in Charlotte and Gastonia, as well as representatives from other Carolinas Jewish communi ties, attended the four-and-a-half day conference, from August 13-17 and came away enlightened and inspired. For the first time, the Confer ence was a “sell-out” during the early registration period last spring, which meant that more than 100 would-be participants had to be turned away. Those who attended were able to choose from among 600 sessions -workshops covering every aspect of the Jewish school curriculum, pedagogic techniques, new tech nologies, and issues on the Jewish communal educationalagenda. On Tuesday afternoon August 15, the entire conference devoted itself to the study of Jerusalem, in prepara tion for the celebration of Jerusa lem 3000 during 199615756 and for the next CAJE Conference, to be held in Jerusalem in August of 1996. An ongoing allocation from the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte to a grant program estab lished by the Carolina Agency for Jewish Vacation (CAJE) provides CAJE Conference registration scholarships which enables our community to send an ever-grow- ing number of its Jewish teachers to the annual Conference. Other funding Is provided by the spon soring Shalom Park Jewish schools. L’shana habah b’Verushalayim - hopefully our schools will be well represented at the twenty first annual Conference next August at Hebrew University on Mt. Scopus in Jerusalem!
