Trypn St. Lie « 4735 Attend Temple Israel's January 22 Book Club Meeting! The next meeting of Temple Israel’s Jewish Book Club will take place on Monday, January 22 at 7:00 P.M. and the focus is on hu mor. Each participant is asked to bring a favorite humorous selection to share with the group. Perhaps it might be a short story, a humorous anecdote, a short recording of a Jewish comedian (or comediem^c) or even a TV clip for the VCR. It’s up to you. The selection for the Febm- ary 26 meeting has an entirely dif ferent focus. A Scrap of Tune, by Ida Fink, is a haunting collection of sto ries about life in Poland during World War II. The vivid descrip tions of small town life and scenes as experienced by Polish Jews dur ing the “actions” (round ups for the Nazi imposed forced labor) make this one of the most notable Holo caust writings: compelling and poign ant at the same time. Temple Israel Book Club meetings are open to all members of the Jewish community. They are held once a nnonth on a Monday at 7:(X) p.m. “Drop in’s” are welcome.
