Complete with golems, magic, miraculous escapes and evil nemeses. The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay is the fantastic, comic book-like story of Samuel Klayman and Josef Kavalier, who “roam the globe performing amaz ing feats and coming to the aid of those who languish in tyranny’s chains.” The two super heroes fight Hitler, take on the evil Iron Chain and seek to rescue Joe’s family, have many escapades along the way, some of which have a historical setting. The discussion of Michael Chabon’s 2001 Pulitzer Prize win ning, highly praised novel will be led by UNCC Professor of English Dr. Jay Jacoby. The book’s length is a real challenge, but can be tack led during your summer vacation. Get a head start and begin reading it now. The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay may be pur chased at local bookstores or on line for about $15 and is available at the Speizman Jewish Library and the public library.
