This year, our opening day extravaganza had our students howling with excitement, leaping out of their seats and chomping at the bit to get started. Every family was provided with a Religious School calendar to provide an at-a-glance view of upcoming events, holidays, class Shabbat dinners and school closings. Here are the basics: Temple Beth El 8th through 12th graders participate in LIBERTY (Life in Beth El Reform Temple Youth), local events and in region al events as part of the Reform Movement’s youth division, NFTY (North American Federation of Temple Youth). Local events include educational activities, social action, social events like bowling, whitewater rafting, and a ski trip. Regional and National events include retreat weekends and national conventions that explore Jewish themes and apply them to the life of teenagers, as well as trips to Israel and Reform Movement camps. The regional events for NFTY-SAR (Southern Area Region) often have over 200 high school students in atten dance. This year. Temple Beth El is hosting the fall Kallah (Regional Retreat) on November 2 -4, 2001, & we need your involve ment! It’s Improved!! A new school year and a new Temple Beth El choir program. In response to our ever-growing Youth Choir member ship, we have two youth choirs during the coming year - one for younger stu dents, and another for the older grades. Both choirs meet on Sunday mornings from 10:30 am - 11:00 am, between the two sessions of Religious School. All Religious School Students are welcome!
