In this New Year the Social Action Committee of Temple Beth El has created a program called “Mitzvah of the Month.” It is our way to turn the spotlight on one of the many fine non-profit orga nizations we support and assist. Each month, weTl share announcements of events and specific volunteer needs so that Temple members may become involved with these worthwhile causes. It’s easy to make a significant difference and to impact the lives of so many of our area citizens in need. It only takes a few hours of your time. The “Mitzvah of the Month” for October was the 10k CROP Walk. It brought together religious groups, schools, civic groups and coroprate sponsors to raise funds to feed the hungry in the local community and around the world. Temple Beth El has par ticipated in this event for the past several years. The “Mitzvah of the Month” for November is to HELP A FAMI LY AT CHRISTMAS. You can make Christmas special for those in need. Temple Beth El’s Social Action group has partnered with Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and Grier Heights Presbyterian Church to provide Christmas presents and holiday meals for less fortunate families in the Grier Heights community. Through our HELP A FAMILY AT CHRISTMAS program, you have the opportunity to sponsor a family, selecting items from a provided list of Christmas wishes (clothing, food, toys, etc.) You can volunteer as an individual, as a family, or as a social or civic group, it’s a wondeful way to share our blessings with our Charlotte neighbors!
