Main Event a Great
Success
Approximately 450 people
attended The Main Event —
“Sex and the Queen City — A
Conversation with Dr. Ruth” on
Tuesday, Febraary 5, 2002, The
event, held at Temple Israel,
launched the 2002 Annua!
Campaign. Stacy and Todd
Goreiiek. gracious and engaging
co-chairs of the event, ensured
that the program ran smoothly.
Over $69,000 was raised that
evening to assist Jews in need at
home in Charlotte, in Israel and
in 59 countries around the
world. Scott Goreiiek, co-chair
of the Men’s Division, expertly
delivered an educational speech,
telling the “Federation Story” to
those in attendance.
Dr. Ruth was lively and
engaging as she delivered one
liners and advice, sharing her
expertise with the crowd. Four-
foot, seven-inch Dr, Ruth held
the audience in the palm of her
hand as she delivered her forty-
five minute speech and then
answered questions from the
audience with skill and confi
dence. Immediately following
the program, Dr. Ruth engaged
in conversation with guests as
she autographed her books.
The big question looming on
the forefront is “Who will be the
guest at next year’s Main
Event?”
