The 2006 One for All Ball will
take place on Saturday, September
9, 2006 at the Westin Charlotte
Hotel. (Please note that the date
printed in last month’s Charlotte
Jewish News is incorrect).
The One for All Ball was con
ceived as a community fundraiser
so that Temple Israel, Temple
Beth El and the Sandra and Leon
Levine Jewish Community Center
could combine their resources and
talents to produce one “mega”
event each year rather than host
ing multiple fundraisers. The past
two galas were tremendous suc
cesses.
In 2003, the inaugural year for
the ball, Lori and Eric Sklut
received the “Herman Blumenthal
Commitment to Community
Award” which honored their phil
anthropic work within the Jewish
community and the community at
large. With over 700 guests in
attendance the event raised over
$200,000 for each organization.
In 2004, the event was all about
fun. A cruise ship theme featured
gourmet cuisine and fabulous
decor with each table decorated as
an international port-of-call. The
highlight of the evening was the
Motown entertainment provided
The 2006 8350.

by Dennis Edwards and the
Temptations Review. Over 400
guests embarked on the cruise
which raised over $33,000 for
each organization.
In 2006, the theme, “Blueprint
for Success” has been chosen to
recognize Hal Levinson who will
receive the second “Herman
Blumenthal Commitment to
Community Award.” Roni
Fishkin, who has served on the
One for All Ball Committee for
three years and is currently
President of the Sandra and Leon
Levine Jewish Community Center
said, “This month’s opening of
Shalom Park’s Main Street and
JCC facilities has put everyone in
the mood to celebrate... so I think
the community is already buzzing
about plans for the 2006 One For
All Ball. There is,also tremendous
excitement about honoring Hal
Levinson because his leadership
and dedication is so widely recog
nized.”
Larry Farber, chair of the past
two galas said, “I believe this to
be the single most important fun
fimdraising event for our Jewish
community and an opportunity to
build important bridges with those
in the general community. Not
only have we successfully raised
over $750,000 net dollars for our
three beneficiary institutions, but
more importantly we have created
a real sense of community within
Shalom Park and our friends in
Charlotte. The corporate commu
nity has supported this event to the
tune of over $150,000 and our
third One for All Gala will again
be the talk of this community.”

Harvey Smith to Speak
November 15 at
Community Business &
Networking Group
Meeting
Do you know what a business
coach is? Do you know what a
business coach does? Do you
know how a business coach can
help you succeed in both your per
sonal and business life? And do
you know that one of Charlotte’s
pre-eminent business coaches is
scheduled to speak to the Temple
Beth El Business Networking
Group, Tuesday evening,
November 15 ... and you’re invit
ed to attend?
Harvey Smith, president of
Carolina Business Coach - as well
as co-chair of the TBENG - will
give a compelling talk you won’t
want to miss, entitled “Five New
Perspectives on Building Your
Business.”
A self-made success story,
Harvey has more than 150 clients
since completing the UNCC
coaching certification program
just two short years ago. But cou
ple that with 30 years of solid
sales and business experience,
including stints as a professional
teacher, and you have an individ
ual with an enviable, well-round
ed resume few business coaches
can match.'
At one point Harvey worked
for the country’s largest textile
converter, starting as a sales
trainee and working his way up to
Vice President of Marketing and
Sales for a $65 million division.
But in wanting something more
spiritual arid humanistic to fulfill
his own life, Harvey’s coaching
career emerged from a passion for
helping people reach their full
potential. He specializes in work
ing with small businesses, sales
professionals, family businesses
and people in career transition.
Join Harvey and us for some
schmoozing, some noshing ...
and, more importantly, opportuni
ties to network among fellow (and
female) Jewish business owners
and entrepreneurs. Although we
are sponsored by Temple Beth El,
meetings are open to the entire
Jewish community.
We convene the first and third
Tuesdays of each month. Casual
networldng begins at 6:00 PM;
round-table introductions, presen
tations from featured guest speak
ers, dialogue and referrals begin at
6:30 and last until 7:30 PM.
For more information, call co
chair Marla Emery at 704-540-

Remember that life is a celebration or can be
a celebration. One of the most important
