Jewish Family Services of
Greater Charlotte received a
Wal-Mart Bonus Grant of
$1,000 this summer from the
employees of the Charlotte
Wal-Mart location in the
Arboretum. The store’s
employees donate to an ongo
ing central fund and choose
one charitable organization
each month as the recipient of
their contributions.
The Wal-Mart grant will be
used to help organize the JFS
VolunTeen Program. This pro
gram matches bar/bat mitzvah
students (and others needing
community volunteer proj
ects) with individuals and organi
zations looking for volunteer help.
Examples of these service projects
include bingo-calling at local

recipient of this generous
grant from Wal-Mart,” said
Penny Wagner-Schuster,
JFS Executive Director.
“It’s especially exciting
because we’re using the
money to fund a program
that encourages volun-
teerism among young peo
ple. Performing good deeds
to fulfill the tradition of
Tzedakah is essential to the
Jewish way of life. And it’s
wonderful when the larger
Charlotte community recog
nizes and supports our
efforts.”

Not Too Late to Becomes a
Friend of JFS
Donations are still welcome as
JFS closes out its annual Friends
Campaign of 2005. This is the
agency’s largest annual fundraiser
and has become essential to fund
ing the programs and services that
help Jewish individuals and fami
lies in need.
“The community always steps
up to the plate during our-cam
paign and we appreciate the sup
port,” said Amy Mullen, JFS
Chair and Co-Chair of the Friends
Campaign. “It’s no surprise that
costs keep rising. To keep pace,
we rely on the generosity of our
donors to maintain the high quali
ty of our programs and services
for the people who need them
most.”
