2006 Charlotte Jewish Women of Strength Awards
On Thursday evening, November 9, the community
gathered to honor four remarkable women for their
amazing accomplishments: Roz Cooper; Deborah
Hirsch; Moira Quinn-Klein; and Lynne Sheffer. After a
some socializing over hors d’oeuvres and wine,
Federation’s Mamie Moskowitz introduced the pro
gram. Andrea Bimbaum Mellen, who conceived the
award pro^am, introduced each of the honorees who
then spoke of their lives as Jewish women, their pas
sions as human beings, and their place in the communi
ty among family and ^ends. We are all richer for hav
ing these remarkable and accomplished women as our
colleagues and friends in this community,
Andrea has moved out of town and has left the reins
to Tammy Menaker who will continue as chair of the
project on a bi-annual basis, working with support from
both the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte and the
Sandra and Leon Levine Jewish Community Center.
