A lot has changed during the twelve years since Alan joined the board. First, the demand for JFS services, based on the number of individuals helped each year, increased by 685%. At the same time, the generous Jewish com munity has increased their finan cial support by 580% providing the means to care for these grow ing needs. However, the crowning event has been has been the con struction of new JFS facilities at Shalom Park into which the organization has recently moved. Alan has been deeply involved in the planning and design of this structure. In Alan’s early career, he served in the armored forces dur ing WW II with General George S. Patton, Jr.’s Third Army. After being discharged from the army, he attended Tufts College and received a B.S. in Chemistry. Subsequently, he received an Alan Goldberg MBA from Wharton Graduate School. Alan moved from Eastchester, New York to Charlotte in 1962 with his wife Ruth and their two sons, Michael and Jonathan. Charlotte became his new home with his time concentrated on his family, Temple Israel and the Jewish Community.
