I went to your website, but I did not see any benches for sale. Do you still sell benches?” Business Owner: “How many of these benches are you looking for, and what will they be used for?” Student: “They will be used for our school’s wildlife habitat so people can enjoy the scenery around the creek that runs through Shalom Park. I would like each bench to be a yard and a half long and would like to get a price for four or five benches. How much are they?” Business Owner: “I am very impressed with your knowledge. I will be glad to donate six benches for your school’s wildlife habitat.” This was the conversation that transpired between Joel Truzman and Barry Klemons, owner of Archadeck of Charlotte. As part of the process, the students formed committees to plan the construction of a habitat in Shalom Park. They were instructed to use the Internet to research cost, materials, and avail ability of the items they would like to include in the habitat, and Joel was responsible for choosing a design for benches that would be appropriate for outdoor use. When he could not find a suitable design on the Internet, Joel decided to call the company whose name he had seen on the benches in the covered basketball area at Camp Mindy. Lake Norman Jewish Congregation Torah Dedication and Celebration Please join us to celebrate the dedication of the Lake Norman Jewish Congregation’s first Torah. We are excited about using the Torah during services and invite everyone to share this joyful and important step in the growth of our congregation. The Torah, which we acquired with a generous dona tion, is the first one ever owned by any congregation in the Lake Norman area. Please witness this watershed moment; you do not need to be a member of the Lake Norman Jewish Congregation. There will be hors d’oeuvres before the serv ice. Dessert and coffee will be available immedi ately following the serv ice. The celebration will take place on January 19 with the appetizers being served starting at 6 PM. Services will follow at 6:45.
