The Charlotte Jewish News - January 2007 - Page 5 Newcomer Ladies Night In On Thursday, December 7, forty women gathered at Sheri Makowski’s house for a Newcomer Ladies Night Out. They enjoyed each other’s compa ny and learned more about the Jewish community while dining on delicious food by Mama Ricotta’s. Leigh Dyer, who writes a newcomer’s column for the Charlotte Observer, attended to introduce herself and her work. Who knows, maybe she even gleaned a new story idea or two. The Federation and the Levine JCC are grateful to Sheri, Paul and Daniel Makowski for opening up their home for this evening. The Ladies Night Out gather ings are an outgrowth of the Newcomer Schmoozes, which meet monthly on Sundays. The next Newcomer Ladies Night Out will be in conjunction with the Women’s Seder on March 18. Newcomers will sit together at this special pre-Passover event.
